An adult is a human or other animal that has attained the full growth.The biological meaning of the term is the animal has reached sexual maturity, and therefore capable of reproducing. When used with human beings, the term "adult" may mean something associated with legal or social concepts. In contrast to "minor" or "non-adult", a legal-age adult refers to a person that has reached the age of majority. They are regarded as competent, responsible and independent. Sometimes referred to as "majors", they can also be considered to be at the age of majority. There is a general belief that the minimum age that a person can legally become an adult is 18. But, it can vary depending on legal rights and the country of origin and also on the psychological state.

Adulthood refers to the time in the lifespan of a human being during which full physical and intellectual maturity have been attained. Commonly, adulthood begins around the age of 21 or 20. In general, middle age is around 40 years of age, and is then it will be around 60. Early adulthood begins between the years of between 18 to 30. The middle age stage begins from the mid-30s through to 60s. Late adulthood starts at the middle of 60s. When we reach the early phases of adulthood (between 20 and 40) then our bodies have reached full maturation, even though our weight and height might increase a bit. During young adulthood we reach the peak of our physical capabilities.
